이 연구는 코로나19가 교통량 변화에 미치는 영향을 충북지역을 중심으로 분석하였다. 이를 위해, 2020년 1월 1일부터 12월 31일까지 코로나 확산 추세와 교통량 변화간 상관관계를 분석하였다. 교통량 변화는 2019년 교통량과 2020년 교통량을 비교분석하여, 코로나19로 발생으로 인해 2020년 교통량이 전년대비 어떻게 변화했는지를 분석하였다. 전국의 2020년 평균 1일 교통량은 전년대비 5.6% 감소한 것으로 나타났다. 승용차(-0.9%)와 화물차(2.2%) 교통량은 변화가 적은 반면, 버스(-38.7%) 교통량은 크게 감소한 것으로 나타났다. 충북지역의 평균 1일 교통량은 전년대비 3.0% 감소한 것으로 나타났다. 충북지역의 경우도 승용차와 화물차 교통량은 변화가 적은 반면, 버스(-17.5%) 교통량은 크게 감소한 것으로 나타났다. 코로나19로 인한 교통량  감소는 월별로는 2월과 3월이 가장 컸고, 요일별로는 일요일과 토요일이 가장 컸다. ‘코로나19 감염자 수’와 ‘교통량 변화’ 간 상관계수는 충북지역의 경우 상반기 –0.680, 하반기 –0.359로 나타났다. 상반기의 상관성이 상대적으로 높은 이유는 코로나19 발생 초기에 운전자들이 상대적으로 민감하게 반응했고, 시간이 경과하면서 점차 둔감해졌기 때문으로 판단된다.
